Hey Everyone,

Sorry I have been away its been a busy couple of weeks. It was my Birthday :) had a couple of shoots and been working relentlessly on LaMode's goals and looking up workshops to take.

2 New things have happened at LaMode :)

1. We got a new LOGO :) YAY!!!
2. We got our very first feature at the Fab Bride ( www.thefabbride.com) , which is an amazing resource for Philly Brides and Brides everywhere!!!! Please check it out!

We have a photo shoot tomorrow and 2 weddings in Nov! Fall Weddings are definitely making a come back !

Hopefully I'll have some pics up soon! Meanwhile check out our new logo fabulously designed by Amber Brien Designs.

Hi Everyone,

What an amazing weekend LaMode had!!! We had an unexpected Bride :) and our 1st photo shoot!!! Both went amazing , I am so thankful. Networking is so crucial, I am beginning to learn that in so man ways. One of the wedding planners, I had networked with on Wedding Wire has given me two clients and I plan to continue to network like CRAZY!.

Our photo shoot was our very first, I had never been to or organized one. To say the least it went extremely well for the first time around. I had another stylist on hand for assistance and she was amazing. K from abarbiedefined.com was great! It was such a great help to have her their and she is also working her way into the Makeup Industry so I am sure she had fun. She did an amazing job of taking prep pics.

I plan on having another shoot in October and will be working with these two models I used.

I hate this new way of adding pictures on blogger where the codes show up after uploading instead of the actual picture lol....drives me nuts! Anyways enjoy and stay tuned for the final pictures from the shoot. I will post pictures from our bride this past weekend, but if you are not a fan of LaMode on facebook why don't you like us :) The Bridal pics are already posted :)

This is just to let you know that I will be updating the blog after the photo shoot on Sunday!! Super excited.

I have decided not to post trial pics of my brides until after their weddings lol.

Nervous about the shoot though ...here is to hoping/praying everything turns out well. My very good friend who is a photog as well I am hoping to get another shoot with her in as well....

Hi Everyone,

This is a short post! So excited :) LaMode Makeup is putting together a beauty/bridal shoot and we are extremely excited... The date tentatively is Sept 26th 2010. Model Mayhem was an extremely good source.

I planned on putting pics from a trial I did this past Saturday. I think I will wait till tomorrow when my Oct 3rd Bride comes for her trial tomorrow. Fingers crossed she will like it. :)

Trials & Thank You's

Hey Everyone!

I am veryyyy excited! Although La Mode decided to launch Makeup & Style by LaMode Jan 2011 we have already received 2 inquiries and had our first official trial yesterday and another on Saturday!!!. I thank God and feel incredibly blessed, we can't take the credit alone for this! I need to must thank 4 very important people.

Bisi Essien C.E.O & Head Makeup Artist of Crystal Eyez Makeup Artistry I think was the catalyst behind it. One great lesson turned into a hobby of fun and passion and later , Makeup & Style by LaMode was born :). Even though she is in the field she is extremely supportive and a wonderful teacher and for that I am so grateful.

My dear friend Ola Abiola, is next she really was the first person I expressed that I might decide to go into the makeup industry. Being that I had a few close friends that were already Artist's I felt that maybe I should'nt as not to step on their toes. Ola pushed me to believe in myself and trust that my friends would never feel that way. For someone to make me believe in myself when I really didn't think I could or even had a chance I am seriously blessed from above for her.

I'd like to thank Abby Ayodeji and Sade Akintade who both own and are head makeup artists of their respective companies for their support, tips and tricks. Without them not sure I would had achieved such a pace of progress with my work. They allowed/allow me to shadow them and really get that one on one experience with the client. After all experience is the best teacher.

I have a vision and goal for Makeup & Style by LaMode , I'm very very excited about the endless possibilities and opportunities that this subsidiary of my consulting business can go.

I will update on Monday pictures from the trials done from this week. I'll always continue to practice and learn about my craft because practice makes perfect.

Prospect looks !

Hey Everyone,

The holiday weekend so far has been amazing! Today we officially performed our first application :) !!! It was so much fun! Abby of Juicy Looks was kind enough to ask us to assist her on a with a bridal party today. Initially I was only meant to do foundations , but ended up doing the foundations , lips and blush for the bridesmaids. We started late and Abby wanted to make sure she got the time she needed to focus on the bride. Abby , did direct me when needed and did the eyes of all the bridesmaids. She was a fabulous teacher.

After this experience today I feel confident and excited :) it was so fast paced that I didn't get to take pics with my camera :s but as soon as I get it I will definitely be posting them. In the meantime I was playing around and practicing on myself lol.....

I call these prospect looks because 1 look would be nice for a vintage look whether its a night out or bridal. Personally I would love this look for a bride... The other look would be nice for a Bride I tried a nude and pink lip with both. Which lip do you like better ?

Hey Everyone,

This is a bridal look , I did on a darling friend of mine. They are such great sports!!! lol. I usually do two different looks on the face since I am in practice mode lol. I'll share the side of her face that was bridal. I actually used lashes this time as now I feel comfortable with the technique! She wanted a plumy eye and a nude lip , its always all about the client! ;)

Hey Everyone!!!!!

I can't believe its been almost 4 months!!! since I last posted wow how does time fly. Let's just say that I am happy about the little hiatus and what we have done in our "off season" LOL. However, we are back and better than ever! So many things have happened with LaMode since April. We have gained a few new clients , added a new service and will be launching a new service come Jan 2011. I thank God for the blessings!

Now don't get me wrong I still love fashion but I have come to realize I love other things too....

LMC ( LaMode Consulting) will be coming out with a Press Release shortly so stay tuned!

This blog is primarily going to be a LOOK BOOK :) with all work being shown on here.

It feels so good to blog again!!!

Hi Everyone!!!

How is everyone doing ? I have been so busy its been FUN:) So a few updates :)

My Intern Emily has sucessfully finished her internship with La Mode and she was fabulous!

La Mode is really picking up , we have a bridal shoot tomorrow, which we styled for and a high fashion photoshoot at the end of this month. Our first bride of 2010 is taking her vows tomorrow and was styled by La Mode. We are also proud to introduce our newest service!!! Which will be offering "Day of co-ordinating" services to those who might not want or can afford a planar but want to ensure thier special day goes smoothly. These services will be available for Weddings , Birthday Parties ,Events and much more .We have two clients already for this service :).

La Mode's portfolio is filling up because we know everyone loves PROOF! I will be creating an online portfolio link that I will be posting here , the website and giving potential customers for them to see our work as well as testimonials.

For now I will turn this blog specifically towards showing pics from work that I have done , more like a portfolio blog. I will be posting the first new post this week! I might start another blog where I share all my passions for fashion :) So thank you all for the support and your readership!

Third Eye Blind

Third Eye Blind at Rowan

I’m so excited; one of my favorite bands will be playing at Rowan University this Saturday night. Third Eye Blind, along with opening acts Reel Big Fish and Sean Kingston, will be performing a private concert for Rowan Students Only. I was first in line for my ticket and I hope to be first in line to get into the concert.
My roommate Jackie and I are going to make T-shirts for the event. The front will feature a big red glitter heart with the words “I Love 3eb”. On the back we plan to write the names of some of favorite Third Eye Blind songs.
I have been lucky enough to see this great band in concert several times, but never in a small venue like Rowan. I hope to be right up there in front where I can get some really great pictures.

I think it will be a fabulous addition. I fell in love with this necklace that I saw a lady wearing and thought to myself I want that like NOW! She later told me she was a Stella and Dot consultant. I was like what is that ? So she gave me a mini brochure and I got on the website and fell in love with a ton of things! I thought to my self my clients would love some of these pieces :)

Swimwear trends for summer 2010

I talked to my mom today and she told me the Cape May beaches looked like the middle of summer this week. I guess this comes as no surprise since the temperatures were in the 80’s and most of the schools were closed for spring break. Too bad my spring break was several weeks ago, when it rained every day. But the nice weather did make me realize that summer is coming and I need a new bathing suit. This prompted me to do some research on the most popular swimwear trends for summer 2010.

* Swimwear is more colorful than other years. Skip the basic black and go for a pretty pastel or deep jewel tone.

* One-shoulder is a big fashion “do”. You will see this style in one-piece swimsuits, bikinis and cover-ups.

* For those who are daring, the cutaway bikini is going to be popular. The cutaway can be just on the top, bottom or both.

* Oversized cover-ups, beach bags, straw hats and sunglasses are all going to be BIG this summer.

Guess I’ll be heading to the mall this weekend.

Hey Everyone!

Happy Good Friday! , I am just getting from an Easter egg hunt with my girls & nephews! It was so much fun , it is crazy to see how my lil munchkins have grown ah I almost shed a tear hehehe! This morning I didn't follow my normal ritual of going thru my emails to see whats new and exciting in the fashion and entertainment world. However , I glanced over an email from one of my frequent visited sites about how Jennifer Hudson was looking post baby. I checked it out again and I must say I am so impressed! I mean she was looking great at the Grammy's but I she is just looking slimer everytime I see her! She recently launched her wieght watchers campaing and dressed casual chic in skinny jeans a blouse and a blazer.

Loving the look girl keep it up ! :) lol.

Happy Easter

Easter is almost here and I cannot wait. The rain has finally stopped, the weather is getting warmer and it's Easter weekend. I am heading home to Cape May where I plan to start the weekend by dying Easter eggs. I love mixing and matching the colors; the deeper and richer the better. Sunday will start with an Easter egg hunt, church and then a trip to the boardwalk to check out the Easter fashions. Friends are joining us for Easter dinner which includes all my favorites; ham, mashed potatoes, corn, blueberry muffins and cheesecake for dessert! After dinner its back to Rowan to prep for my 8am class on Monday.

Happy Monday! - I am back!

Hey Everyone!

Weird I just wrote a post and it is gone :( So here I am re writing it lol. So I am back! I had writers block and for some reason I just couldn't come up with a decent post ( by my standards).

I am glad to be back! I can't believe it is about to be APRIL! Time is flying , my intern Emily has been doing a fantastic job and she is getting ready to graduate. Kirsten is no longer with La Mode we both decided that she wasn't a good fit , but no harm done we wish her the best on her future!

La Mode is currently going through re vamping! Although La Mode's fist wardrobe review will be taking place very soon ( super excited) I decided to take on new clients for little to nothing! I want to build La Mode's portfolio and as a small business it is very hard to get off the ground with no portfolio to show. So La Mode is currently working on that as well as releasing a new maternity package so look out for that at our relaunch :) ( exact date not confirmed but will keep you all posted)

I lately have bought new gadgets as opposed to clothing lol , I got the Barnes and Noble Nook! Which I loveeee , I love to read books so this was great. As you all know I wanted the iPad like it was yesterday but due to the hubby and a close friend of mine I decided to hold out until the 2nd gen! I know I know I gave in!!! I also got the ipod touch to satisfy my curiosity and need and I must say I love it.Lastly , I got the Wii loveeeeeee that lol , it keeps me going and going and going ( currently loving Super Mario bros hehehe).

Now with all these gadgets I have had no extra for feeding my retail thirst however, I saw these Jessica Simspon platforms and couldn't resist hehehe :) They are platform sling backs and super comfortable!

What have you all been up to ?? I have missed the world of blogging :)

Hey everyone,

It was a beautiful sunny morning last Saturday when I drove into Atlantic City for a day of fun. My excitement only grew at the Outlet Stores; which were already filled with people. After being housebound by snow the last few months it was nice to just get out and be around other shoppers. I had come to browse the stores and check out what was new for Spring. What I found instead were Big Spring Sales!!! Banana Republic, Tommy Hilfiger, Coach, along with many other stores, were making it hard not to shop. Coach Outlet was having 30% off plus an addition 20% off!! So of course my day of browsing turned into a day of bargain hunting. I ended up with a Coach bag for a steal; my new "blue beauty"! My friend bought all her summer basics at Polo. After the Outlets we headed to the Pier where I visited Tiffany, Betsy Johnson and Black House White Market. This time I really did just browse. We ended the day with a great dinner at Rainforest Cafe. If you get the chance to go to Atlantic City, go soon and hit the Outlets before all the great sales end!!

Hey Everyone!! ,

I feel like I haven't blogged in weeks! It was a long week this week for me , I worked Mon -Fri and I was feeling a bit under the weather. However, I am back and will be blogging regularly so I apologize. I also am looking forward to FRIDAY lol already!! Friday is going to be a fantastic day because I will be able to pre-order or reserve my iPad :) YAY! and some other things that I will be buying this weekend so excited. The Oscars are also this evening so looking forward to the hopefully fab fashion on the red carpet :)

So on to Payless :) , I must admit althought I wear size 11 :s I have to admit I dont get many of my shoes from Payless but it was to my delight when I saw that Christian Sirianto had a line ( though small) for Payless. The shoes go up to size 11 and I was impressed. I have been looking for flat shoes for some time. All the prices range from $29.99 - $59.99 what a deal ! I will be looking to definitely get the black flats which also come in like a nude color.

The top one is not Christian Sirianto it is Alice + Olivia , but I thought it was pretty funky and nice :)

Hey Everyone,

Its FRIDAY!!!! This week went by too fassst! I decided to post this quickly for all the AC area folk :) If you are looking for something to do tonight or tomorrow ? Its restaurant week in AC!

I love going to Atlantic City! No, not for the casino's- the stores! The Pier, The Outlets, and Tropicana provide everything a girl desires. I get to visit Betsy Johnson, Tiffany, Coach (both the retail and outlet stores), Bebe...the list goes on and on. But this week I will be changing things up and going to Atlantic City for Restaurant Week. A week of fixed lunch and dinner prices from some of the greatest restaurants in town. Meals include appetizers, entrees and desserts. This event only runs through Saturday, March 6, 2010 so don't delay; make your reservations now. It's Kirsten and let's talk Vera Wang! Vera Wang has become a high-profile figure in the fashion world. Did you know that Wang was not always a fashion designer? She was once a figure skater and later on designed figure skater's Nancy Kerrugan's hand beaded ensemble for the Olympics! Today, Vera designs both bridal and evening apparel that are sold in many upscale retailers, such as Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus. Even though I LOVE Vera Wang's apparel, I can't afford to shop at these higher end store, so I was ecstatic when I shopped at Khols's one day and saw that they carried a large selection of Vera Wang apparel, shoes and accessories. The buzz at New York Fashion Week is that Madonna is coming out with a new clothing line. Word is the singer is considering signing a deal to design and launch a contemporary women's collection for one of my favorite stores, Macy’s. The line would offer clothes, accessories, lingerie and shoes. Names being kicked around for this new label include Material Girl for the clothes and Truth or Dare for the lingerie and undergarments. If the buzz is true, her new line would be out sometime in the next year.

H & M 's Eco Friendly Collection

Hey Everyone,

It's Nikki here , I feel like I haven't written in the forever! I have been working since Friday and just got my first day off today :) I have to say that I can't wait till SPRING!!! This weather is making me sick argh! So nearly every store has their spring collection in the stores and its fun to see the colors hitting the stores.H&M recently announced the launch of "The Garden Collection", This will be an 80-piece collection created solely from sustainable materials like organic cotton, linen, recycled polyester and tencel, a wood pulp fabric. H&M say the collection is inspired from nature ( way to go GREEN :) ) The collection will be in stores March 25th 2010 , I for one will be looking forward to this. I can always find me something nice and reasonably prices in H&M. However , I kinda have drifted away from shopping soley at chain stores ( except WHBM of course hehe) I want to stand out when I go out not blend in !!! lol.

Fashion designer and former Spice Girl, Victoria Beckham is one of my favorite celebs. When I found out she was on the cover of Glamour's March issue I ran right to grab a copy. Of course her cover shot is gorgeous; I mean how lucky can a girl get to have her bone structure! But the article reveals Victoria is more than just beautiful, she is very down to earth. Her priority is her family (hunky soccer star husband David Beckham and her three boys) followed by her fashion line, Victoria Beckham Denim. She enjoys traveling, eating healthy and smiling. Yes, I said smiling- that's something we can all afford to do and it fits all sizes!! The article is full of fabulous pictures and tidbits. Hey Everyone!!

So much going on its crazy! Fashion week is well underway , The Brit Award show in London and lastly Kim Kardashian is EVERYWHERE I look ! She and her sisters recently designed a line for bebe and while I haven't shopped at bebe in a while I must say am impressed with some of the recent stuff I have seen. I hate hate hate to admit it but I did buy something from the Kardashian line hehe..I mean and while I don't like a lot from this collection , I did like 2 or 3 things. Now the dress I got I absolutely love , I just got it today and it fits like a glove. I might however be removing the shoulder pad. They have 4 more collections coming out so looking fwd to seeing what they will be having. Kim also unveiled her new perfume at the 5th Ave Sephora store , where she was wearing one of her dresses and they had to shut down the street. Wow! on that particular article I read ( bossip.com) someone made a very interesting comment saying Kim doesn't act , sing , dance or play sports yet she is just famous. What do you guys think about that ? I agree that she is intense right now and with her show and Khloe marrying Lamar Odom of the LA Lakers the publicity is 100 for them right now!

Yes! So back to my shopping cart :) I went to one of my fav online boutiques The White Dress Shop . I love a ton of stuff from the White dress shop but so far I only own 3 items which will grow to 5 tomorrow lol. I have been looking for a One shoulder top thats cute , fun and will look great with skinny jeans. I want quality material that I can get a lot of use out of also , so when I stumbled on this top I thought I must have this! The two tops that I have gotten from the store have been made by designer Aryn K and I LOVE the two tops I love how they fit and are made of beautiful quality. This top I choose because in the spring I think it will look nice with a cute pair of boot cut denim of with my boyfriend denim with cute heels.

I am still looking for a nice long sleeve mini dress and I recently gave away 2 dresses and 10 pairs of jeans to my babysitters daughter and she was ecstatic! I felt great and was happy to see my true religions n 7 for all mankind go to use instead of just sitting in my closet. Ah the pre - pregnancy body however it means I can buy new jeans :D ones that fit and look just as good as the old ones. I have embraced my new body which isn't that bad lol I just need to tone up my tummy.

Fashion for Relief ( Haiti) - NY Fashion Week

Hey Everyone,

Happy V-Day :) , Hope everyone has a splendid day! Here is to doing at least one deed of showing love to someone else. Whether its your significant other , partner , family or friends that is what counts. The hubby and I will be going for a date night , and just enjoy a good day together with the kids.

Fashion week is going strong and there have been some amazing collections. I am so happy everyone is doing everything they can to embrace Haiti. It is has been incredible. From the 25th anniversary of "We are the world" ( Mj 1985) , several benefit concerts and to NY fashion week's fashion for relief its has been great!

Naomi Campbell was the brain behind getting people to come together for this wonderful cause. She also called on one of my fav stylists Rachel Zoe to work on this fashion show. She styled 92 of the girls that participated on this show. Victoria Beckham also took a break from working on her own line ( which I think is amazing! ) to help Naomi Campbell with the show. Men also rocked the runway and it was good to see Chris Brown helping in this effort ( a great cause) !

Each of the 92 looks will be sold on Net-A-Porter.com starting March 15th and proceeds will go to Haiti!

R.I.P Alexander McQueen!

Hey Everyone!

It's been a long week and with all the snow I got down at my end , I am happy to finally be going out again!!! I will be running some errands and shopping for a client of mine that will be leaving for Rome in March :) Yesterday as some of us may have heard Alexander McQueen a popular fashion designer passed away. Though some people have cited his death as a suicide no one actually knows yet. This is a SAD time in fashion , I had blogged about some of his designs in the past and his fashion sense and style will be missed! A lot of celebrities took to their twitter yesterday to express their disbelief and sadness. I am not sure if they will still show his collection at NY Fashion week ( which started yesterday). Our hearts go out to his family and loved ones!

Happy Monday!

Hey everyone :) a new week has arrived woo woo. I'm patiently waiting till March , end of March to be exact so I can get my iPad! ;) I don't care what anyone says. It does all the things I need and being that I don't have an iPhone or iPod touch it would be perfect. I played around on my girls iPhone last night , I must admit if not for the dozens of contacts on my BBM I would have gladly traded my Blackberry for an iPhone.

I have been wanting an e-reader for a while now and to be honest I didn't even know it existed till I saw it on Onada's blog LOL.... I love reading books though, James Patterson , Jackie Collins , John Grisham etc. I am also looking for new authors to read , so the e-reader portion of the iPad made me one happy potential buyer :)

As we all know by now Who Dat Nation is ECSTATIC! Congrats to New Orleans!!! I mean as you all know ( or for those who don't) I am a SERIOUS Eagles fan , however we need to put in some serious work. We have been to the playoffs 8 times in the last 10 years and no SUPER BOWL WIN!! So when my teams chances were cut :s naturally I choose an alternate team hehe , which was the New Orleans. No offense to the Colts who I think is an amazing team as well , but New Orleans needed this more. Manning & Co already have one under their belt , heck the Eli and Peyton both have rings so I wanted the underdogs to have this.

As we should all know this lol , Kim Kardashian and Reggie Bush have the spotlight this week. Literally every blog , gossip , entertainment website is talking about them lol. Last night after the Super bowl when my fav commentators on the NFL network were talking to Reggie and Porter of course Kim had to get her spotlight and lurk behind , they eventually called her up to speak. However , under her name they put "Model" Kim is no model , she is a reality tv star in my opinion who is riding the wave from her tape that made her so famous. I gotta admit though the girl has style so whatever rocks her boat lol.

Now for the rest of this week I plan to save at least $50 towards my savings challenge that I am taking part in over at Onada's blog. I have come up with my "wishlist" for 2010. I am always so busy being mom and wife , that sometimes I have little or no time for me! So I have decided to write down 12 of my absolute fav things I want this year and buy at least 1 item each month. Its time to take care of "Me". I will blog about every item I buy on my wishlist :) so stay tuned to see this months buy.

Lastly , I want to start a reader style watch! , I want you the readers to send me pictures of anything you think is fashionable or that you just love and I will post it up on my blog. I have my first one to put up soon. A friend of mine was shopping in Zara and saw the cutest trench coat. He sent me a picture and I plan to blog about it! Don't forget when you send it to me you have to tell me why you love it !

Other than that I will be working hard on my clients ,working at WHBM this week and think about what I will do for the Hubby this Valentines day :)

It's Nikki here and can I just say TGIF!

This past Wednesday Fantasia was on Oprah! Yay! I loveee Fantasia , I love her powerhouse voice. I have had the pleasure of seeing her perform in concert before and I am looking forward to when she comes out with her new album. I hope she goes on tour because I will definitely be going to see her. She performed her new single "Even Angles" which I have already downloaded on itunes lol.

So I must give kudos to Fantasia's stylist because she is looking amazing :) and when looking at her shoes that day I was wondering why do they look so familiar ? lol I mean I don't own them ( I wish) but then I remembered that I saw the shoes while I was browsing the Neiman Marcus website with my mom when she was around and I fell in love those shoes! When ever does Christian Louboutin fail ? Never! one day I will own a pair though :) .

Let's talk about Pink at the Grammys-

I was lucky enough to catch Pink's Funhouse Tour when she was in Philadelphia last year. It was wild, absolutely the best! Anyway, I was looking forward to seeing her at the Grammys. Wanted to see what she would sing and of course what would she be wearing! Pink did not disappoint me on the red carpet. Her crystal-encrusted Tony Ward Haute Couture gown and over $2.5 million-worth of Neil Lane diamond jewelry made her look Hollywood glam. During the show, her performance of “Glitter in the Air” (while wet and on a trapeze) was stunning. It also brought back memories of the concert where I watched her perform the same act in her finale. As I said, it was an unbelievable concert! At the end of Sunday night Pink went home without any Grammys, but her talent and style will always make her a winner to me and her many other fans.

Hey Everyone,

Let's talk Grammys ! The Grammy awards took place Jan 31st 2010 , I was impressed , amused and disappointed at the same time. Lady Gaga cracks me up!!!! she is so hilarious with her eccentric , no sense making outfits but hey I guess we can agree that is her trademark LOL.

I was impressed with Beyonce's outfit on the red carpet but wasn't too impressed with the dress she later changed into ( however, I did like the outfit during her performance). Congrats to her because she won 6 Grammy awards , so kudos to her!!! . Miley Cyrus looked quite chic in her Max Azria piece that she wore , it is definitely my style. I was super impressed with how Jennifer Hudson looked! She is wearing a piece from Victoria Beckham's collection which flatters her in all the right places. Fergie looked amazing as well in the electric blue /cobalt color I liked it! Celine n Beyonce looked some what similar but I will take Celine's outfit over Beyonce just a tad bit too much chest for me :). Rhianna was wearing a gorgeous dress from Elie Saab who I just wrote a post on his fab spring 2010 collection. The beautiful white color looked amazing on her , got me thinking could I ever pull of white so fabulously ? If I do plan to wear any white dresses it will be from the The White Dress Shop , they have some affordable gorgeous pieces! Now , we have the big winner yesterday Taylor Swift kudos to her for winning the album of the year. I do think she is extremely talented , after all she sold like over a million records last year. I also plan on putting a few on my ipod , do you think she should have won album of the year ? Taylor Swift opted for a gorgeous Kaufman Franco dress it was age appropriate and looked stunning on her!

Hey Everyone,

This is Emily and as promised , I'm going to talk about my recent visit to New York. My friend Vicki and I went to New York City a few weeks ago to see a play and check out the stores. The play Wicked was amazing!! If you every get the opportunity to see it you should go. Who knew the characters from The Wizard of Oz were so complex! After our matinee we stopped by Macy's, Saks 5th Avenue and, just for fun, F.A.O. Schwartz.

Everywhere we went we saw hot, bold neon colors. Some of my favorites were Rachel Roy’s Draped Ribbon Dress in hot pink, Jimmy Choo’s cute Caesar sandals in neon yellow and pink, the Plasteramic neon watch collection from Toy Watch and Ray-Ban’s hot royal blue Propionate Aviator Sunglasses. Unfortunately I spent all my money on the play so I was only allowed to window shop. But I will be going back to the stores soon to buy something in neon. I believe the key to wearing neon colors is one piece at a time; no one wants to look like a neon sign. So, get out there and pick up a neon dress, shoe or accessory. Start soon and you will appear very fashion forward!

Jersey Shore - Intermission :)

Hey everyone,

This is Kirsten with a brief intermission post :) and its for all of you Jersey Shore fans!! After mixed signals from Jersey Shore fans, whether they would like to see a 2^nd season of the realty MTV hit series show Jersey Shore, it was just recently reported that the cast will be coming back to film a 2^nd season. The cast has accepted MTV’s offer of 10,000 an episode after the cast rejected the initial offer of 5,000. Some natives of New Jersey aren’t exactly enthusiastic of the show airing a 2^nd season by saying, “we don’t act like the way we are portrayed in the show by the Jersey Shore cast, we call them beanies!” What do you think? Did MTV get ripped off by offering the cast 10,000 an episode?

Meet The Interns! Kirsten & Emily!

Hi Everyone I’m Emily, one of La Mode’s new interns. I’m a senior at Rowan University majoring in advertising. This is the start of my final semester, only 116 days until graduation (not that I am counting or anything...lol).

I am really excited about my internship. Nikki is the perfect mentor; very organized and professional yet also funny and great to be around. I expect to learn a lot during my time here. Working for Le Mode will let me utilize my advertising and marketing knowledge in a field I love; fashion. My favorite designer is Betsey Johnson; her designs are over the top, but I love her use of color and her flair for whimsy. I own several of her bags and would love a few pieces of her jewelry. Attached is a picture of my favorite Betsey bag. Purchased from her store at the Pier in Atlantic City, this fun and wild bag is definitely me!

You know how some people love shoes, well I love handbags! Besides my Betsey bags, I own Dooney & Bourke bags, Michael Kors bags and, of course, quite a few Coach bags- see picture. Their Poppy Collection is amazing!! It’s bright and colorful and fun.

Personally, I enjoy traveling, hanging out with friends and family and having fun. I love my new iTouch, going to concerts and movies, photography and of course shopping.

My name is Kirsten Braun I’m 26, and I absolutely love fashion! I am very eager and excited to be working as an intern for La Mode. I have my associates degree in Marketing and I am currently attending school at DeVry University in PA working on my bachelors degree in Technical Management with a concentration in Small Business and Entrepreneurial ship. I started college at DeVry in 2008 with the intentions of graduating and then working in the marketing/entertainment industry. Even though I have always loved fashion I wasn’t sure if I could make a career out of it. After much thinking, I realized that because of my love to shop and my natural ability to pick out the latest trend and putting together outfits that are trendy but yet within my budget. What initially attracted me to La Mode was the fact that La Mode is in the fashion industry and that working for La Mode will help me gain the experience needed in order to pursue my career. Using the team approach I am sure that La Mode and myself can learn from each other and help La Mode grow to be a great success!

Hey Everyone!

It has been super busy for me in the last couple of days with work , La mode & my family. So firstly I would like to apologize to you guys because I haven't read or commented on blogs lately. I will do that as soon as I am done writing this post :) . So where do I start , my Interns are amazing! I am so excited about all they will be working on this semester. They have already started working on our first annual charity event. I will be posting their introductory blog posts shortly.La Mode has been doing great , we just got another Bridal client which is amazing! If you know anyone getting married or if you are or just want personal shopping advice La mode can HELP :)

The twins are growing sooo fast its mind blowing. The new things they seem to learn , do or say is so funny. It is such a delight to watch them grow , I'm so blessed. I think am going to increase how much I read to them daily because they love it when I read to them. I can't wait till it gets warmer though this weather sucks big time. This morning it has been raining like crazy already. Oh how can I forget the kisses they give to me through out the day priceless!

On a different note , GO SAINTS! :) woo woo I am so happy they won ! Although my main team is the EAGLES they didn't make bohoo !! I had to move on to my default team , which will be the SAINTS in the Superbowl. New Orleans post Katrina needs this to boost them up as a city. It was wonderful watching how they were celebrating in the streets when they won the NFC championship yesterday. I am a HUGE!! Football fan , I even took Superbowl Sunday off from work :)

The fashion world doesn't waste anytime spring is already hitting the stores! I plan to have a spring report for everyone later on in the week. With where to get the hottest spring pieces at an affordable price. Also we plan to come up with spring must haves as well.

White House Black Market is going well I love it there. I love my career in Fashion,especially retail fashion because I get to first hand connect with the people. I am a Sales Lead mgr now but I am thinking that I might want to climb up the ladder eventually. We plan to have a fashion show soon which I will be heading so that will be fun.

Hi Everyone!

It's almost Friday and a lot has happened! I was able to go away to Md to spend a few days with my mom which was great! On a sadder note Haiti as we all know ( and we all should know) was hit with a 7.0 earthquake! I am not Haitian but my soon to be sis-in-law is and it was agony for her! Thank God her family in Haiti is ok. On a larger scale life is short, we shouldn't take for granted the water, food ,shelter,money and much more we have for granted. The Pictures for this tragedy or mind numbing! If it is $2 or even $5 ANYTHING is better than nothing , also check with your companies to see if they are donating. My husbands company is matching their employees donations by doubling the amount. We donated $60 and they contributed $60 totally $120 , it is not a lot but it is definitely something. Lastly make sure when you donate , it is to a reputable organizations such as the red cross and YELE ( Organization by Wyclef.) It is unfortunate that it is a traedgy bringing us as a people to donate to Haiti ( which is one of the poorest countries in the world), but it is still better than nothing.

On a happier note , I am looking forward to seeing what the Celebs will be wearing on the red carpet this weekend for the Golden Globes! I would love to see Marchesa , Jason Wu, DVF and Channel.

Kate Gosselin got some hair extensions in which I'm loving! I think it makes her look fun, happy and youthful! I wonder if her stlye of dressing will change , though with 6 kids I can kinda imagine how tough it would be to get out. However, when she makes appearances this new hairstyle could give her some life!

I had a fab weekend visit with my Mother who doesn't live in the United States. So it was fun to catch up and chit -chat most of the way. Plus she gave the twins a fab Christmas gift a lil something to put in their college funds/savings, which was definitely a plus.

Recently, I have seen Amy Adams stylishly pregnant puts a smile on my face :) Sure I don't know none of these stars , but when they are pregnant it seems so cute because they seem just like everyday people. So I decided to check out pics of pregnant celebrities or celebrities who had been pregnant.

Looking online I thought Heidi Klum ( as usual :D ) Hiedi Klum will be debuting two lines for pea in a pod in February . Since I plan on introducing a maternity package to La Mode , I will be looking out for that to hit stores.

Ashlee Simpson-Wentz looked gorgeous pregnant. I was also please to find that Christian Sirianto, A favorite winner from project runway has a maternity line to debut in the Spring I believe. I will be looking forward to that , I think he is a great designer. I have a post on him in the works.

Amy Adams is getting a custom made maternity wardrobe from Carolina Herrera for her ! I wish that would be awesome, if I had something custom made when I was pregnant! She has been seem a lot lately while promoting for her new film leap year , which just hit the theaters this past weekend.

And Lastly, of course Angelina Jolie stunned me in 2008 , when she was 6months pregnant with the twins and wore a beautiful Max Azria green empire dress. I thought it was a gorgeous choice and it flattered her just right.

Happy New Year Everyone!

I named this post Greatness because that is what I am working on for 2010!

I am refreshed and ready to go! , I have been reading everyone's blogs and their well wishes and I just love some of the blogging communities that I have found. I have so much this year that I'm looking forward too personally and with La Mode.

Firstly I would love to say a HUGE THANK YOU! to the amazing people who have taken the time to enter my giveaway its a fabulous giveaway! This year I plan to have at least 1 every 6-8 weeks or so , so please keep posted ... :) I am also working on visiting each of you that have blogs to become followers as well!! It's all about support!

My personal Goals include building a closer relationship with God! He blessed me so much last year, even when I was faithless and for that I am thankful. I also plan to be more organized!! lol and spend my time more effectively on my days off! I also plan to get in more date nights with the Husband and trying to spend wisely.

La Mode is already looking great so far! Some of my goals are to make my blog more interactive and I am also looking to upgrade the design :) and maybe moving to word press. To write posts often so you can look forward to coming on over!

I plan to hopefully have a certain amount of new clients :)

La Mode is going to have its first annual Benefit Concert /Fundraiser this year WOOOHOOO!!! I will be donating half of the proceeds to two charities LabakCare which provides health care and hope for the less fortunate kids in Africa and to Alex's Lemonade stand for Pediatric Cancer. Although I know no one who has been diagnosed with Pediatric Cancer it is something verrry dear to my heart!! So if you are in the PA,NJ,MD,DE Area this will be something to look forward to, or even if you live beyond the cause is worth it! More info in the next couple of months. I plan to make this annual event with a different Charity every year.

La Mode's Interns will be starting this week and I am super excited about that! I have so much planned for them.

Also look out because we will be introducing a maternity , post-maternity package & a kids package to our business!!!

So there is a little insight into what is going on in my head for this year!....

My last post for 2009! Wow , I am really excited for what 2010 has in store for us all!. I am just thankful that everyone I know or have met this year is alive and healthy! That alone is a reason to praise the Lord! I am so grateful!!

Looking thru the stores and online because of the crazy sales going on , I noticed a lot of spring coats in resort. Love it! Because I'm a big trench coat person and they are sweeping in , in style. I checked out a couple of designers to see what is going to eventually inspire all other brands lol to make their coats this Spring. Hey Everyone!

I was catching up on my daily does of in style when I came across Beyonce!! :) Now I will be the first to admit , I wasn't a HUGE Beyonce fan in terms of her singing cos all her songs were very commercial but extremely catchy. However, after seeing her in concert with 2 of my very close girlfriends that all changed I am pretty sure I will be going to see her again!. I mean omg her FIRE & PASSION on the stage was electrifying , what I call O.O.C out-of-control which is why I am not surprised the name of her new fragrance is none other but "HEAT" . The fragrance is inspired from her very "hot" performances. The scent according to In Style is "the scent has notes of red vanilla orchid, magnolia, neroli and blush peach". I probably use like the same fragrance every day which is Miracle by Lancome which I LOVE!!!... So when this hits the departmental stores in Februauy I must admit I will try the sampler out of curiosty to see how it smells. :)

Hey Everyone,

Is it just me or does London get the first dibs on movies nowadays ? Rachel McAdams looked so simply elegant in her Andrew Gn gown she wore at the London premiere of Sherlock Holmes which she starred in and is coming out Christmas Day I believe. I love how her gown is one arm and has just a tad bit if sparkle to it!

This steel gray goddess dress is powerful in that although its simple its just so elegant. The color isn't something we normally see everywhere but I think it works for her!

Intermission :)

Hey Everyone ,

Time for my Intermission post! :) So were do I start ? So much has been going on but I'm grateful. La Mode got it's first official intern woo woo! She will be starting Jan 21st for the spring semester , I hope she will be able to learn about small businesses firsthand from this experience. I also received another applicant this evening so , so far so good. Yesterday I had the opportunity to work the first White House Black Market fashion which was very interesting. I learned quite a few things :) I will post pics in a separate post later . I have been working on my short and long term goals for La Mode and I am extremely excited of some events to come in the new year. I'm very passionate about cancer awareness and even more cancer in children , La Mode is going to be doing something special for the kids affected by this horrid battle. Although ( and thankfully) I have never lost anyone dear to me from Cancer , it breaks my heart.

My mom is coming from Nigeria for the Christmas holidays so that is very exciting!!! :) . I should be in MD for the Christmas holidays with my brothers , her and the rest of my family. We plan to take professional pictures of me , her & the twins so that will be fun.

I have been stumbling on some fabulous blogs that pertain to all sorts of areas. I especially love the wifey & mommy ones that I have read lately. It's amazing how this blogging world has changed my perception on certain things or made me realize people go thru the same exact triumphs and struggles as I do. On another note there are also some other fab fab fashion blogs that I love. I appreciate all my readers and new readers , I am so grateful that you take the time to stop by and see whats happening on my blog. I make sure I visit and comment on everyones blog that passes thru here on mines or is a reader :).

I can't believe 2009 is rolling to an end! It has been an amazing year and I thank God for EVERYTHING I feel soooo blessed , I am looking fwd to bigger n better things for husband, my twins , my loved ones , my fellow entrepreneurs and all of my readers! I am ready for 2010.

Hey Everyone ,

Sorry for the long pause , it was a busy week plus I was feeling a bit under the weather yesterday. The twins got the cold so you know I definitely got it. La Mode got two interns this week! , so excited for the goodness that will come out of this. I am so happy to announce that my Christmas shopping is DONE! I am thankful that I was able to get 8 of my closest friends and family something. They have been so good to me this year and I would love to say thank you!. Of course with every shopping trip something has to come out of it for me lol.

I am trying to step my shoe game up :) All my shoes seemed to have disappeared. I assume with me moving from MD to NJ as while as during the pregnancy a lot of them got displaced. However, I do need a serious update, so I have decided to get at 2 new pairs of shoes a month for the next 3 months ( where I can afford). Let's just call this an extreme shoe makeover lol , so I have started this month and I bought my first pair from Zappos. Zappos is a bit pricey however they carry sizes 11 , yes I'm a size 11 ( and hope my girls don't wear sz 11) So it is extremely hard to find shoes , DSW and Nine West have some cute ones were I go often. Which brings me to the second pair that I bought , they are having a %30 off your entire purchase be it sale or full price. I took advantage of that and bought a pair of suede pumps with cute pleats in the front. I used to shop the Victoria Secret catalog a coupe of years back and then I stopped for some reason. I already know what next months will look like and they won't be black :).

I noticed that peep toe is everywhere online and in the malls , with some kind of embellishment, ruffle , rosettes etc I love it ! Naturally I love love love ruffles, so that was my first thing that caught my eye!. It was funny because the shoes I picked were blogged about over at the I am styl-ish blog ( her blog is amazing ).

Next in my cart I bought 2 fahsion books one by Tim Guinn and another one called Pocket Stylist by Kendall Karr. I would love to start a library of good and useful books am all about learning , not to mention I love to read!

I didn't do any more shopping for myself as I was all about Holiday shopping ! So their

Soul Train Awards 2009.

Hey Everyone,

So after a 2 year hiatus the Soul Train Music Awards is back! I had to record it as I was working. It was taped November 3rd and was aired November 23rd. After watching it I was pleasantly surprised because unlike the AMA's I actually liked a couple of the outfits that I saw. I especially liked Kandi Burruss who looked smashing in the strapless black feathered tube dress and a black jeweled necklace. Its nice to see her out & about despite the sad news of her ex-fiance passing away bac in October.

Some other things I enjoyed about the Soul Train Awards was Taraji P Henson and Terrence Howard's hosting performances. Boyz II Men though only 2/4 present I still love them , Trey Songz was amazing as well. Of course I also have to mention that Le Toya Luckett looked sexy in her Herve Leger dress and Robin Thicke looked nice and crisp in his black number :)

The Long Sleeve Mini Dress

Black Friday was crazy at my job! good thing for us I was busy styling away! Even today it picked up right as I was getting ready to leave. It was funny because their was a bit of commonality to what people happened to be looking for today. They wanted a dress a nice short length but wanted long sleeves. Which should'nt be a surprise as it is getting cold right , thankfully we had some cute mini sweater dresses as well as nice mini dresses with long sleeves. I love the long sleeve mini dress because it provides the coverage for your arms and with your legs , tights do the trick. However , in the spring you can wear without the tights and still feel comfortable. I found a cute picture from In style of Jennifer Aniston in a such a cute dress and a nice affordable alternative for under $100 from topshop.com.

How was Thanksgiving ? Yummy I hope :) Mines was , I enjoyed the evening with wonderful my wonderful family.

Moving on ,I am so excited & thankful to God that La Mode's website is DONE!!! It has been such an amazing effort put forth by my very dear family friend that worked tirelessly on my website. I am completely satisfied with the finished product of my website currently . He was patient with my endless calls , emails and rants. I am proud to say that La Mode is OFFICIALLY open for business, I wanted to establish a styling based service were everyday people like you and me could enjoy such. I do want to thank my Husband , family and my friends who have supported me 100%. Hope the start of the short week is looking good :) So I caught the Red Carpet for the AMA Awards last night , to be honest nothing really caught my eye or wowed me. I thought Nicole Kidman looked gorgeous in a Balenciaga dress. However, Natalie Portman at the cinema society screening of her upcoming movie Brothers , wowed me in this cute Jason Wu ( love Jason Wu) cocktail cobalt dress with a teal waistband! I love the fact her shoes are purple as thats my favorite color. She was able to add a splash of color with her clutch and get away with it! :) What do you guys think ?

Hey Everyone! :)

The weekend that gets here so slow is fast leaving us :s However, I had a fabulous friday I got to see NEW MOON! Yes yes I am one of the "twi-moms" that contributed to the $72.7 million that they did! Now don't get me wrong I love the twilight story but Dark Knight is wayyyy better and I think should hold its spot but hey its a win-win situation for me :)

When it comes to accessories I love fun and bright pieces , jewelry can really make a statement and provide the "BAM" factor :) or it could be subtle and just compliment your outfit. Recently at work I had fun styling this lady who was going for her 25th reunion. We choose the dress which was a plain black tunic dress, by the time I got done accessorizing her she got the necklace , earrings ,clutch & shoes :) . It looked great; she was so pleased that she said she was going to wear it to her Husbands work holiday party. Talk about versatile , you can always be versatile with your outfits and changing up you're accessories will help you do just that.

Hey Everyone,

I have been having such a productive day today :) I wanted to share a recent outfit Nicky Hilton wore that I loved! She is dressed in black and white from head to toe, but it's the edgy yet a simple look that I love.

Nicky is wearing a layered a tuxedo look a-like jacket over a striped tunic and added platform heels, a patent bag and a Chanel necklace with her sheer black tights. She was attending her sister's Beverly Hills launch of the "Paris Hilton hair and beauty line" I love the tuxedo look , there is something tailored about it, that I think is insanely chic. I love the long necklace because it's not too much or too little, plus it adds that finishing touch. I think this is a great day to night look.

I'm thinking of buying this gorgeous winter white shawl collar jacket or this black tuxedo jacket. How I wish I could buy them both!! :) My wardrobe has been going thru a makeover because post pregnancy self doesn't agree with my pre pregnancy closet lol. The winter white one would be stepping out of my box. The black is something I would usually go for anyway, I tried both of them on already and they fit perfectly. Ok people so which one you think ?

Hey Everyone again :)

I know I just wrote a post hehehe , but honestly last night I watched the live stream of the New Moon premiere and can I just say that thankfully Kristen Stewart did NOT disappoint last night :) Especially since I wasn't feeling her lil outfit at a publicity event in Spain.

Kristen is wearing a gorgeous Oscar de la Renta gown , Kristen Stewart usually to me has such a nonchalant attitude about her dressing. So I was very excited when she opted for a feminine tulle gown with a spider web-inspired layered embroidery. She looks very sophisticated , so I will be giving her stylist kudos for getting her to look beautiful! The dress also flatters her body. I am wondering tulle is everywhere when it comes to the gowns , and I'm not surprised tulle adds a nice femininity and elegance to a dress. As I said in my earlier post "intermission" am looking forward to New Moon. Yes, I did think she could have acted slightly better in Twilight but I love her for Bella. In her the many interviews that I have seen her in she is awkward and perhaps shy, so its great to see her in this gorgeous gown.

So who is going to see New Moon this Thursday ???

Hey Everyone,

Sorry I didn't blog sooner , has been a bit hectic for me. I have been working a lot lately and really concentrating on La Mode's website. I also as you know have the twins who are growing at such an alarming rate lol. It is so hard to keep up with them. My husband is another baby I have to take care of :). So I have decided to do something a little different with my blog. As I just started about 2 months back , I want to once every so often blog about other things exciting to me or just about life in general. I still breathe fashion :) don't get me wrong , but I have realized not everyone breathes fashion and I would love to appeal to them also.

So moving on am off till Friday woo woo !! So am looking fwd to NEW MOON on thursday!!! Where are all my TWILIGHT fans ? I can't wait am so excited , although new moon was my least favorite book because I'm TEAM EDWARD all the way ;) . I will be looking fwd to see what they added to and removed from the book. So that will be a nice date night for my hubby and I :).

Today and tomorrow I plan to spend some time with my babies and social media hehehehe...I think I might be slightly addicted to social media hence why I might plan it. I read this interesting blog post on how you can plan your social media life. For example I plan to religiously blog Mon, Wed & Fri and have an intermission post at least once every two weeks. This will be effective today :) . I am going to catch up my HOUSE M.D which I love :) sigh lol... I have already caught up with one of my close girlfriends have a few more to chit chat with and then of course do some Laundry ( which I have already started hehehe)

The twins have of course had breakfast , played with each other , fought with each other lol...and tried very hard to get ahold of my juice and chips ( bad breakfast I know ). We have done the Hanny Manny & Mickey Mouse. Now am looking fwd to their nap already hehehe.

I have a very exciting event that I will planning for La Mode early next year! so I will keep you posted as soon as I map out the details well :) . Now La Mode's website is coming everyone! It was originally supposed to be up Nov1 but unfortunately a lot of technical difficulties have occurred so hopefully we will be up and running soon:) but in the meantime I am working with three brides next year . I am so blessed to not be officially open and already have 3 brides next yr , one of them is my dear friend which I will be responsible for finding fabulous hair accessories , the other 2 I will be doing their favors and my last client isn't a bride but I did some styling for her via virtual consulting!.

Well that's all for now folks :) Jimmy Choo premièred their line for H&M and due to work couldn't check out the pics from the event or shoes from the line so I will be doing just that! :) I had mentioned it a while back on my FB Fan page so eager to see what its all about!

Everyone is getting "SEQUINED" out :) BAM!

Hey Everyone,

As always the holidays are fast approaching and I love all the holiday styles I have been seeing so far. One thing that is making a statement are the sequins! I am noticing that every store or designer has something with sequins on it. I must say people are so creative cos some of the designs are amazing!. At White House Black Market we have already started getting some peices that are sequined ( my word : =) ) out ... Personally I love this tank and will be purchasing it , its a very versatile piece.

Sequins are fun for your cocktail, holiday parties and nighttime affairs. They are bold and when worn right add the "it" factor to your outfit. Not only tops , dresses ,pants and cardigans have sequins on them now. Accessories such as shoes , belts and handbags are also a good look to add on to your outfit. Even if your outfit doesn't have any sequins on it your add on pieces will carry the look from day to night.

This year and moving on I'm all about stepping out of my box and comfort zone so sequins will be in my closet this year and hopefully some of my clients! :)
